Scenic view of the Isle of Bute from Ettrick Bay Viewpoint

Only 2hrs from Glasgow (including a scenic ferry ride!), the Isle of Bute is a popular holiday haven for nature lovers, families and solo-explorers alike.

With sandy beaches, magical woodlands, and winding countryside paths, there’s something for everyone who visits. You’ll also find a wealth of shops, eateries, and places to stay – all for the perfect weekend cycling trip!

So much see … so many routes to cycle!

On Bute, it’s so easy to get to our many natural and historical sites by bike: saunter through the town to 13th century Rothesay Castle or the Bute Museum; cycle up to Ettrick Bay for a refreshing beach walk and a spot of lunch; or go off-grid and explore Bute Forest – and don’t miss a visit to Mount Stuart; our neo-gothic mansion with an intriguing story to tell!

Further afield, you can cycle to Scalpsie Bay to catch a glimpse of our resident seals, or seek out our many standing stones for a little bit of ancient history!

Whatever you want to see on the Isle of Bute, take the scenic route with a Bike Bute e-bike.

E-bikes: fun and easy to ride – for any age or ability

Our e-bikes use Bosch power-assist, which enables you to cycle with ease, and are therefore suitable for any age or level of fitness. Whether you cycle regularly, or haven’t been on a bike in decades, you’ll find using an e-bike as easy, as it is, fun.

What’s more, our staff will be there at your pick-up time to help you get set up – so you can feel confident about riding before setting off on your adventures.

Easy booking, pick-up and drop-off service

In addition to our e-bike fleet, we also have companion bikes for wheelchair users, as well as child strollers and trailers, dog trolleys, cargo trolleys, paniers, and of course, helmets – all you need for a perfect day of cycling on the Isle of Bute!

Choose your pick-up and drop-off times at the point of booking: your bike will be waiting for you when you arrive.

As a community organisation, pre-booking is required, as our sites are staffed in response to bookings.
