The past few weeks have seen some visual changes at Bute Produce. The coming of the snow was very picturesque on the garden and our living Christmas Trees have proven a success amongst the community. We have been able to supply our home-grown, potted trees to local residents who are keen to look after and then replant after the festive period. Our customers have been very pleased with them too:
What a “Bute-iful” tree!!
What a wonderful recycling idea….Rent a Tree
Even better than I had imagined it would be, and in it’s own tub and knitted Christmas sock too!
THANK YOU”-Karon
Our festive green boxes are very popular this year too, and many more people are looking forward to a wide selection of fresh fruit and vegetables such as parsnips, sprouts and potatoes- just in time for Xmas.
In November the Bute Produce team took part in a Master Composter training course and those attending enjoyed their time and learnt a great deal. This was held during European Week of Waste Reduction- an international initiative intended to highlight ways of reducing waste.
In May we wrote of the the new willow walk introduced at the garden and how we expected it to develop over time. This season we have seen just this happening as the team have been involved this week in coppicing the willow. We have added a new Willow Walk to guide people to the new woodland. Of course, it will evolve and change over the coming years as the saplings grow, and we invite you along for a tour anytime.
